A police constable accused of fatally shooting his 20-year-old girlfriend during a domestic dispute in St Mary last year has pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
Twenty-four-year-old Constable Patrick Walters entered the plea in the St Mary Circuit Court on Wednesday, July 15.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 25.
The deceased, D'Jonnay Graham, was a 20-year-old resident of Richmond, St Mary.
According to the prosecution, about 9:15 p.m. on June 25, 2025, Walters was at Graham's home when an argument developed between the couple.
During the dispute, Graham was shot.
Police were summoned to the scene and, upon arrival, found both Walters and Graham suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
They were taken to the Port Maria Hospital, where Graham later died.
Following investigations, detectives submitted a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which ruled on July 17, 2025, that Walters should be charged with murder and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Walters is represented by attorney-at-law Donahue Martin.
