CPL summer return in Jamaica aims for 5,000 diaspora visitors

Tourism Director Donovan White says the country is working to bring in roughly 5,000 visitors from the diaspora when the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) comes back to Jamaica this summer.
The Twenty20 tournament is scheduled to run from 7 August to 20 September, the first time in seven years that Jamaica will host CPL action.
White said promotional activity is being stepped up among Indian, Pakistani and Sri Lankan diaspora groups in the United States and Canada, markets officials believe can supply a strong share of cricket-minded travellers.
Authorities expect the CPL, alongside major entertainment programmes and the West Indies’ tour against Sri Lanka, to lift visitor arrivals and strengthen Brand Jamaica’s profile abroad.
