DBJ Volunteers Promote Reading at St Jude’s Primary and Mona High on Read Across Jamaica Day

The Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) observed Read Across Jamaica Day by sending volunteer teams to St Jude’s Primary School and Mona High School, where they read with students, encouraged participation, and highlighted the value of education.
At both institutions, DBJ team members joined classroom activities that included read-aloud segments and interactive exercises aimed at helping students build stronger reading habits. The bank also donated materials to each school’s library to help bolster their resource centres.
“Today’s readers are tomorrow’s business owners, innovators, and leaders,” said Charlene Wong, public relations and corporate communications manager at DBJ.
“Reading builds more than literacy. It strengthens imagination, confidence, critical thinking, and communication, the very skills that will help shape Jamaica’s next generation of entrepreneurs and nation-builders,” Wong added, while reaffirming DBJ’s commitment to programmes that invest in Jamaica’s people and support long-term economic development.
