Government pressed on delivery of five thousand Melissa container homes
Professor Floyd Morris has pressed the Government for an update on the pledge to provide five thousand container homes for Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Melissa.
Morris noted that seven months have passed since the October announcement, yet many communities still awaiting assistance have not received a single home, including areas in St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland.
He challenged whether the housing commitment is being carried out with adequate accountability and transparency, and asked where the houses are and why affected Jamaicans remain without delivery.
Morris also proposed an amendment to strengthen the recovery bill by explicitly including houses in the interpretation section on goods and recovery support.
