Kingston and St Andrew heritage pageant opens 2026 recruitment drive

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Organisers have begun intake for the 2026 Mini Miss Kingston and St Andrew Heritage Queen Pageant, an event foregrounding Jamaican heritage and aimed at girls who can display skill, confidence, and cultural knowledge.

This parish heat clears the way to the Mini Miss Jamaica Heritage Queen Pageant, which carries endorsement from the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).

The girl who wins the local leg will fly the flag for Kingston and St Andrew when the countrywide title is decided.

In the last national outing, Campion College student Annorah Brown collected second runner-up honours, giving this year’s parish team a performance to try to equal or improve on.

Parish Director Stephanie Elliott-Gunning said, “Last year’s accomplishment has inspired us tremendously, and we are aiming to replicate—and even surpass—that success this year. Recruitment is ongoing, and we are encouraging parents to get their daughters involved in this enriching experience.”

She added, “The tentative date for the parish finals is sometime in August this year, so we’ll need to move swiftly in identifying and preparing our delegates.”

Caregivers who wish to register a participant should dial 876-449-4179 for instructions.

The Mini Miss Jamaica Heritage Queen Pageant staged a successful first national edition last year, following more than twenty years when it ran as the Mini Miss St Ann Heritage Queen Pageant under founder Damion Duckett.

The series still gives youngsters a setting to sharpen self-assurance, cultural literacy, and comfort under the lights.

Applications must be in by 22 May 2026.
