MAN LISTED AS A PERSON OF INTEREST NOW IN POLICE CUSTODY
Detectives assigned to the St Mary Policing Division have arrested Dane Watson, who was listed as a person of interest in connection with the death of his wife, 35-year-old Melissa Samnath.
Watson was taken into custody in Gayle, St Mary after he was handed over by family members on Friday, May 15. He was subsequently transported to St. James, where he was placed into safe custody.
Reports from investigators indicate that on Wednesday, April 29, Ms. Samnath was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James by Watson, who allegedly left the medical facility shortly after assisting her from a motor vehicle. Hospital personnel later contacted the police after Ms. Samnath was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination conducted on Wednesday, May 6, determined that Ms. Samnath died from multiple blunt force trauma to the head.
The investigation is ongoing.
