Match day predictions

Canada have done well and shown that they’ve improved since losing all their games back in 2022, however their performances against Bosnia, Switzerland and South Africa weren’t the most convincing. They still play at a good pace but things become more difficult against a tough Morocco unit who don’t often get caught out. Alphanso Davies’ return to the line-up would make a difference for the Canadians but their defence will be tested like never before with Boauddi, Onahi and El Aynaoui set to control the midfield and open up gaps for Morocco to dominate.

Canada 1-3 Morocco

Paraguay 0-3 France

Canada have already made this a dream World Cup, and with Alphonso Davies back in the picture they have real pace, belief and energy. They will press, run, and make Morocco uncomfortable — especially if Jonathan David can find space between the lines. However, Morocco look a little more tournament-ready and they present a much sterner test than anything Canada have faced so far. They topped a tough group, pushed past the Netherlands, and still carry the confidence and experience from that 2022 semi-final run. Canada can definitely score and make it tense but Morocco’s balance, athleticism, and knockout know-how give them the edge.

Other Predictions

Canada 1-2 Morocco

Paraguay 0-2 France

Canada have never beaten Morocco in their previous four meetings, with the last being a 2-1 loss to the Atlas Lions at the 2022 World Cup.

However, Jesse Marsch has set up this squad to press aggressively and force turnovers of possession in midfield. That could prove challenging for Morocco, who had to go all the way to penalties to get by the Netherlands in the previous round. Breaking down that Morocco defence will, however, not be easy.

Morocco are masters of the counter-attack, and with Achraf Hakimi’s energy up and down the right side, and Brahim Diaz capable of producing danger at any moment, an early goal could prove an insurmountable task for The Reds.

.

Marsch, however, is exceptional at getting his team fired up — in spite of their limitations — and that passion can prove invaluable in this game. Jonathan David must make the most of the chances provided for him, especially from Stephen Eustaquio in midfield and on set pieces.

I think Morocco secures a 2-0 win.

Other Predictions

Canada 0-2 Morocco

Paraguay 1-3 France
