Men Who Cook fund-raiser set for May 24

MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The Hurricane Melissa-ravaged Black River Hospital is among the charitable initiatives high on the agenda of the Lions Club of Mandeville as it prepares to stage its signature fund-raiser Men Who Cook at Brooks Park on May 24 here.

“For over two decades, Men Who Cook… has attracted food lovers and supporters from across the region, raising funds for meaningful causes… Proceeds from the event will support the restoration of the Black River Hospital Recovery Room and other charitable initiatives, helping to advance critical community and humanitarian needs. We proudly invite the public to support this worthy cause,” said Vernon Henry, public relations officer for the event.

“This highly anticipated community event continues its tradition of bringing people together through great food, fellowship, and service. Patrons will enjoy a wide variety of delicious dishes prepared by talented men from across the community, in an atmosphere of engaging entertainment and camaraderie,” added Henry.

He said this year’s staging will feature an exciting It’s a Party Kiddies’ Village and Family Engagement Area, offering a range of family-friendly attractions for all ages with highlights including a Ferris wheel and a mechanical bull, providing fun and interactive experiences for patrons throughout the day.

The entertainment line-up will feature gospel artiste John Mark Wiggan alongside Minister Fabian Wright, with host/MC Jerry D.

The event’s start time is slated for 11:00 am.

“In addition, patrons can enjoy performances from a group of reggae artistes from Xtra Entertainment Promotions, including Benzley Hype, Baby Lawd, Pepita X, and more,” explained Henry.

Patrons can also look forward to an exciting display of futuristic auto motifs from ATL Automotive, featuring nine different brands, along with various vendors showcasing their products and services.
