CVM News understands the entertainer whose given name is Owen Lennox Moncrieffe, was battling a heart condition for some time.
He was best known for songs including Rasta Got Soul, Stronger, and Hail the King.
Fans also remember him for memorable lines such as, “Mama Hungry, Papa Hungry,” and “When I Rise Early This Morning, I See Jah Jah in Front of Me.”
Tributes have begun pouring in from across the music industry in honour of the late reggae artiste.
His manager confirmed the news after he reportedly passed away at the hospital. He would have celebrated his 50th birthday on August 5.
