Rudolph Speid to Lead Reggae Boyz at 2026 Unity Cup as JFF Keeps Interim Backroom Team

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Rudolph Speid has been confirmed to take charge of Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz for the 2026 Unity Cup, set for later this month in England.

The Jamaica Football Federation said the coaching personnel that handled the team during this year’s FIFA Confederation World Cup playoff assignments in Mexico will continue for the Unity Cup campaign. That position was ratified at a JFF leadership meeting on Tuesday after a recommendation from the federation’s technical committee, led by Barry Watson.

The retained coaching group includes Miguel Coley, Michael Donaldson, Aaron Lawrence and Lamar Morgan. They were originally brought in on an interim arrangement after former head coach Steve McClaren resigned when Jamaica did not clinch automatic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The federation also said work to identify and appoint a permanent head coach will start once the Unity Cup ends. The tournament is slated for May 26 to May 30 at The Valley in Charlton, South-East London.

Jamaica will compete in the four-nation event alongside India, defending champions Nigeria and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe and India are scheduled to play first on May 26, with Jamaica facing India on May 27. The two winners move on to the May 30 final, while the losing teams will contest third place in the first game of the closing day double-header.
