Senate debate renews call for statutory NaRRA board of directors

During Senate discussion on May 8, 2026, speakers again urged tighter governance arrangements for the proposed NaRRA framework, pointing to the lack of a statutory board to supervise the authority.

They maintained that a board of directors is a routine and essential check on bodies entrusted with wide powers and heavy duties.

The session also questioned reluctance to put in place structures meant to deepen accountability and shore up public trust.

An amendment was floated to create, under the Act, a statutory board of directors with formal responsibility for governing NaRRA.
