St Catherine engineer charged in 2014 double murder near Linstead roundabout

A 63-year-old engineer from St Catherine has been charged over a double killing in the parish that took place twelve years ago.
Solomon Powell, who also goes by the name 'Salla', of Windsor Heights, Central Village, was charged after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions issued a ruling on Tuesday.
He faces two counts of murder, along with charges of illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Authorities say Powell shot and killed 58-year-old Livingston Garvey and 26-year-old Mario Cross, both residents of Cherry district, Linstead, in St Catherine.
According to reports, shortly after 5:30 p.m. on March 7, 2014, Garvey and Cross were sitting in a motor car near a roundabout in St Catherine when Powell arrived in a Honda Prelude and spoke with them.
He is alleged to have opened fire, striking both men in the head, before leaving the scene. Garvey and Cross were later pronounced dead.
