St Thomas Labourer, 14-Year-Old Charged with Prohibited Weapon Offence

1 min readSt. Thomas

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 20-year-old labourer and a 14-year-old boy have been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon following an incident in St Thomas on July 5.

The accused are Delano Willis, otherwise known as ‘Delli’, and the teenage boy, both from addresses in the parish.

According to the Morant Bay Police, an off-duty police officer was attending an event when he received information that individuals in the area were in possession of a firearm.

The officer reportedly observed Willis handing what appeared to be a firearm to the 14-year-old.

Both individuals were subsequently searched, and police say a green imitation firearm was found tucked in the teen’s waistband.

The pair were taken into custody and later charged following question-and-answer sessions conducted in the presence of their attorneys and, in the case of the minor, his guardian.

A court date is being finalised for both accused.
