Experienced schoolboy football coach Vassell Reynolds says he will not rush a decision on where he coaches next after his stint at Kingston College ended without a new contract, though he could have clarity before the current month is out.

Reynolds is widely seen as one of the island’s strongest developers of young players. With several benches expected to change ahead of the next schoolboy season, he said he prefers to weigh any approach carefully rather than jump at the first option.

“This did not take me by surprise,” he said. “I was prepared for this based on situations here at Kingston College. So, I was well aware that both parties would have not continued the relationship going forward.”

For now, he said, national assignments with the youth programme—including work around the Under-17 World Cup build-up and the Under-14 age group—are taking much of his attention. He has received a couple of offers, he added, but is reviewing them slowly.

“In the meantime, I have gotten a couple of offers, but kind of just looking at things day at a time and don't want to rush in anything,” he said. “Over the next week or two, you know, if if the mindset is right based on the offer that comes my way, then you know, I will think about it. But for the time being, it's just a day at a time.”

Reynolds has also coached Humble Lion and, before Kingston College, Harbour View. He said he is not aiming to return to senior club coaching at this stage.

“Most definitely at the junior level,” he said. “I mean, that's that's that's you know, that's where I would have spent most of my time as it relates to coaching. That's a level I'm involved in with I'm involved with at the national level and and I want to continue to assist in the growth and development of the youth. And so, so most definitely schoolboy level.”
