Westmoreland Teen Killed In Motorcycle Collision With Cow

An 18-year-old Westmoreland youth died and a 16-year-old boy was seriously hurt after their motorcycle struck a cow on the Petersfield main road late Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Finardo Whitelocke of Logwood district in Whithorn, Westmoreland. Police say that about 11:30 p.m., Whitelocke was travelling in the direction of Savanna-la-Mar with the younger teen riding pillion when the cow entered the roadway near Petersfield Primary School.
The motorcycle hit the animal, throwing both teenagers from the bike. They were taken to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where doctors pronounced Whitelocke dead.
The 16-year-old suffered a broken right leg and remains in hospital. Investigators said neither teen had been wearing a protective helmet. The police are continuing their probe into the crash.
