Honour Prince Returns to Winning Form with Restricted Stakes Triumph

Honour Prince has rewarded the long months of patience shown by his connections, returning from a difficult layoff to reaffirm his class on the track. On Saturday, April 25, 2026, the bay colt swept to a 2½-length victory in a Restricted Stakes event for three- and four-year-old non-winners of four for locally bred runners and non-winners of three for imports.
Contested over 5½ furlongs (1,100m), the result amounted to far more than a routine score. It signalled that the ability once stalled by physical setback is firmly back in motion.
Now four years old, Honour Prince is by Bern Identity out of Awesome Lucy. That breeding had him pointed toward the 2025 three-year-old Classics before injury cut short his progress, ending a campaign that had already produced a win in the seven-furlong (1,400m) Prince Consort Stakes on April 12, 2025.
The lengthy absence that followed only sharpened the anticipation around his comeback. He resurfaced on March 28, 2026 in a six-furlong (1,200m) assignment and ran a creditable second, beaten 2½ lengths by the import The Teacha while finishing strongly through the final furlongs (200m).
Though he came up short that day, the run served as the ideal preparation. A month on, under jockey Tevin Foster, Honour Prince stretched his career record to four wins from seven outings, with prize money topping $3 million.
Foster was content to let his mount settle behind the early tempo, which was first dictated by The Levitus with Demar Williams aboard, before the import Fred The Master, partnered by Robert Halledeen, assumed command. Fred The Master led the charge into the lane for the final two furlongs, but Honour Prince, travelling wide off the rail, hit top stride and produced a telling burst.
He brushed past Fred The Master in convincing fashion, with Fidelity rallying for third. The official time stood at 1:07.2, with splits of 24.0 and 48.3.
This fourth career victory not only highlighted the colt's toughness and quality, but also promoted him into Overnight Allowance company.
