Holness and Golding Mark Labour Day With Calls for Service and Respect for Work

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness used his Labour Day address to ask Jamaicans to give their time and effort in support of their communities and fellow citizens.

The day is being marked under the theme, “One People, One Purpose: In All Things Jamaica Wins.” Holness said Jamaica’s development cannot rest only with the Government, but also depends on citizens showing effort, discipline and care for where they live.

Opposition Leader Mark Golding, in his message, called on Jamaicans to consider the value of work, the sacrifices made by ordinary people and the shared spirit that keeps the country moving ahead.

The two national Labour Day projects this year are Lewis Town Early Childhood Institution in St. Elizabeth, which suffered severe damage from Hurricane Melissa, and Sabina Park in Kingston.
