Some assets of the St. James Municipal Corporation which were damaged during Hurricane Melissa last year are being repaired through an interim insurance payment of $120 million.

The update was provided by Mayor Richard Vernon at the corporation’s monthly meeting yesterday.

Mayor Vernon outlined that among the assets that were insured are the Catherine Hall Multi-Purpose Stadium, the Jarrett Park Stadium, the Municipal Corporation Building, the Harbour Street Craft Market, the Infirmary and the Charles Gordon Market.

In providing an update on the status of the repair works, Mayor Vernon said some are at the procurement stage while others are under construction.

Mayor Vernon dismissed claims that the Catherine Hall Stadium received free money from the corporation to facilitate restoration works.
