Ibrahima Konate Nears Real Madrid Move After Liverpool Contract Talks Stall

Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate is said to be deep in negotiations with Real Madrid over a move that would cost no transfer fee once his present deal runs out at the close of June.

The 27-year-old French international is expected to move on from Anfield after talks about extending his Liverpool contract failed, with the sides unable to settle issues linked to pay and valuation.

During his time with Liverpool, Konate played 183 matches and was part of squads that captured the Premier League, the FA Cup and two League Cup titles. Should the deal go through, he would become the second Liverpool player in back-to-back summers to head to Real Madrid for free, following Trent Alexander-Arnold.
