ICE arrests Jamaican national Mosiah Wright in New York immigration operation

1 min read

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement says one Jamaican was taken into custody as part of a New York City metropolitan-area operation aimed at people the agency called “known criminal illegal aliens and immigration fugitives.”

In a statement on Wednesday, June 10, ICE said its Fugitive Operations units detained Mosiah Wright. The agency placed him among “criminal illegal aliens convicted of violent and repulsive crimes including murder, rape, sexual abuse of a child under 11, forcible touching of sexual or intimate parts of another person and sexual contact with a person incapable of consent.”

According to ICE, the wider sweep also included nationals from El Salvador, Ecuador and Honduras. The agency said Wright had earlier been removed from the United States and had a murder conviction in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota. ICE also said he had been arrested for illegally carrying a concealed weapon, drug possession, resisting arrest and probation violations.

Kenneth Genalo, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations field office director, said: “While sanctuary politicians continue to prioritize criminal illegal aliens over law abiding New Yorkers, our officers are on the front lines every day keeping our communities safe from murderers, rapists and pedophiles that prey on our most vulnerable citizens.”
