Brazil Overturn Halftime Deficit to Beat Japan and Reach Last 16

Brazil have booked a place in the round of 16 after rallying for a 2–1 victory over Japan at Houston Stadium on Monday, with the winning goal arriving in stoppage time.

Japan struck first in the 29th minute and took that lead into the interval.

The Brazilians raised their level after the break and overturned the deficit to keep their campaign alive.

The outcome was the first time since 1938 that Brazil had recovered from a halftime deficit to win a knockout-stage fixture.
