Justice Ministry Calls for Early Traffic Ticket Payments to Ease Court Backlogs

1 min read

The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs is urging motorists who do not intend to dispute a traffic offence to settle their tickets before the payment deadline rather than await a court appearance.

Payments can be completed online through Tax Administration Jamaica's eServices portal or the TAJ Mobile app. Motorists must provide their driver's licence number and traffic ticket number.

Ministry officials said prompt payments could ease court backlogs across Jamaica by allowing the courts to concentrate on cases requiring judicial attention. This would help limit delays and improve access to justice.
