INDECOM Opens Fatal Granville Shooting Probe, Urges Witnesses to Step Forward
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) says it was alerted to the shooting and sent investigators right away, as closed-circuit video showing portions of the encounter spreads widely online.
The commission says that when cases turn on how force was used by the security forces, recordings from cameras or bystanders are playing a larger role in independent oversight. Such material, it adds, can help reviewers judge the behaviour of officers and civilians alike, including whether any force used was warranted.
INDECOM says its work is ongoing and has asked anyone who saw the incident to contact the body. That includes people who were in Miss Bulgin's vehicle at the time, and anyone who may hold other video that could aid the inquiry.
