St. Ann health inspector says cloudy Ocho Rios water is safe to drink

1 min readSt. Ann

St. Ann's Chief Public Health Inspector Leroy Scott has told residents in Exchange and nearby Ocho Rios communities that their tap water is fit to drink, despite complaints about a cloudy look.

At a St. Ann Municipal Corporation meeting yesterday, Scott said the whiteness is not a sign of too much chlorine. He noted that heavy chlorination would show up differently, including eye irritation. Scott attributed the colour to calcium in the supply and pressure inside the distribution network, and said it poses no health danger.
