Holder claims three wickets as Gujarat Titans rout Rajasthan Royals for fourth straight IPL win
Jason Holder picked up three wickets in the Indian Premier League and proved central to Gujarat Titans' 77-run defeat of Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The win carried the Titans to second on the points table and extended their streak to four matches without loss.
Rajasthan put Gujarat in to bat, and the visitors totalled 229 for four in their full allotment of 20 overs. Openers Shubman Gill, the team's captain, and Sai Sudharsan added 118 before the end of the eleventh over. Gill headed the card with 84 from 44 balls, including nine fours and three sixes; Sudharsan contributed 55 from 36, with six fours and two sixes.
Holder's innings ended on seven when he became the second victim in Brijesh Sharma's spell of two for 47. He then turned in a sharp spell of his own, claiming three for 12 across 2.3 overs as Rajasthan folded for 152 in 16.3 overs. His wickets included countryman Jofra Archer for five, as well as Dasun Shanaka and Tushar Deshpande.
Rashid Khan finished with four for 33 and picked up the Player of the Match award. Gujarat have climbed to 14 points, level with front-runners Sunrisers Hyderabad and separated solely by net run rate.
