Iran Challenges US Visa Restrictions on World Cup 2026 Team Staff
Iran has charged that the United States is refusing visas to "integral" personnel from the backroom team attached to its national football squad before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The row comes after Washington said Iran's players and "necessary support staff" had permission to travel for the team's first match, set for Los Angeles on June 15.
Iran's embassy in Turkey labelled the move "politically biased interference in sport" and urged FIFA to step in. The United States says people connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards will not be permitted to enter for the tournament.
