Fashion Radar: Loeri, The Organic Mum

What has kept her in the industry?
My passion for business and my purpose to help others. I feel blessed to have found a way to ‘do good’ by promoting the life-changing benefits of a wellness lifestyle, knowing full well the tremendous advantages that it will bring to our clients, their villages and their tribes.
Far too many of us have a misconstrued perception about the boundless potential of natural ingredients going into and onto our bodies hold. Our driving force is to use Unwind as a vehicle to change that view and help you to live a longer, richer, healthier life.
How has she shifted mindsets?
Cost is always a factor, be it eating healthier or using healthier products. We generally try to find non-toxic and vegan products that are exceptional and negotiate as best as possible with the suppliers, whilst keeping our margins as low as possible so that the products are generally affordable. We have got better at this over time as the premium Happy Hues diapers, training pants (aka pull-ups) and wipes are the same or dramatically cheaper than the popular diapers and wipes sold locally; even though they are sold for the same or more in stores in the US like Target. Our Zion Health ClayDry deodorants last 2-3 months longer than other deodorants, so the effective cost is the same or cheaper than other deodorants (including the unhealthy deodorants), and The Zion Health ClayBrite toothpastes are also competitively priced, with a smaller size for persons on a budget. We have also done the same for other new products that we are currently in the process of introducing to the Jamaican market.
How has she revitalised the brand and garnered additional support?
We rely heavily on partners like The Jamaica Observer to educate people and put the brand at the forefront of people’s minds. We have also worked with EngineRoom Brand House over the years and influencers that believe in what we do and want to spread the message of wellness, like Kamila McDonald, Alyshia Miller-Powell, Megan Tapper, Tiffany Lawson, just to name a few through social media and special launches. Lastly, we do our own promotions in the locations that we are in to educate and spread awareness to the public.
What can customers look forward to from Unwind Distributors over the next couple of months?
We have some awesome new products that we are introducing to the market that are loved by international celebrities including Megan Good and Tyla called OrganiBrands (baby — adult hair and skin organic line) and a Ulta Beauty/Nordstrom favourite called Londontown (nail performance and nail care line). We are also working on other beauty products, household products, food items and beverages to introduce in the near future.
What should mums, especially new mums, focus on?
Mums should always focus on the nutrition and general well-being of their little ones, including providing them with as much affection and confidence that they can give and instil.
Even just as important is what they are putting on the largest organ that their littles have-their skin! The products they use and the diapers/training pants/wipes they use also affects their overall health and well-being.
Let’s face it, a baby/toddler wears a diaper/training pants 24/7, so we have to pay keen attention to what these things are made of. I came to this realisation when my son was getting rashes from the two most popular diapers sold in Jamaica. His paediatrician confirmed that the rashes were caused by these diapers, and that is when I took the deep dive and researched intensely on the diapers, training pants and wipes. This led me to Happy Hues, as it was not only affordable, super absorbent and comfy, but also super safe, hypoallergenic and non-toxic for my sweet boy. Of course I had to spread the joy with my fellow Jamaicans.

Londontown Lakur and Kur are both designed to improve nail health using the brand’s proprietary botanical formula, but they serve different purposes: Lakur is a breathable, long-lasting coloured nail polish, while Kur is a specialised line of strengthening, protective treatment products (base coats, top coats, and oils).
