Mountainside father killed in domestic stabbing; teenage son detained by St Elizabeth police
A father-and-son dispute in Mountainside, St Elizabeth turned deadly on Tuesday afternoon, leaving a 53-year-old man dead and his teenage son in police custody, lawmen confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as Gary Allwood, of the Love Lane district in Mountainside.
According to preliminary information from investigators, the two men became embroiled in an argument around 1:00 pm. During the confrontation, Allwood was attacked with a knife and a pair of scissors and sustained stab wounds.
He was rushed to hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Police say Allwood's 19-year-old son was later picked up and is being held as the principal suspect in the killing as the homicide probe continues.
