Thompson-Herah delivers golden anchor as Jamaica wins women's 4x100m at World Relays

GABORONE, Botswana — Elaine Thompson-Herah, back to fitness, produced a commanding anchor leg on Sunday to carry Jamaica to victory in the women's 4x100m relay on the closing day of the Debswana World Athletics Relays, with the quartet stopping the clock at 42.00 seconds flat.

The Jamaican line-up was reshuffled from Saturday's first-round outing, where the team had clocked 41.96 seconds. Briana Williams stepped in for Shericka Jackson on the opening leg, passing the stick to Jodean Williams, before Lavanya Williams took on the third exchange.

Thompson-Herah collected the baton sitting in second behind Canada, but reeled in and overtook Canadian anchor Donna Ntambue, visibly easing down through the line.

Canada settled for silver in a national record of 42.17 seconds, while Spain rounded out the podium with a bronze-medal run of 42.31 seconds.
