Treasure Beach Eye Crucial Win as Suspended JPL Clash With Tivoli Gardens Resumes

Treasure Beach FC will be chasing a third consecutive Jamaica Premier League victory this afternoon when they meet Tivoli Gardens at the STETHS Sports Complex to play out the second half of a fixture that was suspended on April 1.

The original match was abandoned at the interval after persistent rain left the playing surface unfit for football. Treasure Beach were ahead 2-1 when referees pulled the players off, and that scoreline carries over to today's resumption, which kicks off in the 46th minute.

In line with FIFA regulations, only footballers named on the original team sheet can feature in the second half, and any yellow cards shown in the opening 45 minutes will still stand.

The contest carries little weight for Tivoli Gardens, who can no longer push for a play-off berth and are also safe from the drop. For Treasure Beach, however, the points are vital. The club are locked in a tight scrap with Molynes and Harbour View to stay out of the bottom places, with Spanish Town Police FC already destined for relegation.

Form is on Treasure Beach's side. Seven points from their last three outings, including consecutive victories, has lifted the club to 37 points. Tivoli, by contrast, have been struggling, having dropped three of their previous four fixtures.

Victory today would push Treasure Beach up to 11th in the standings, leapfrogging Molynes and opening a four-point cushion above the relegation zone with two regular-season games still to play.
