ST CATHERINE, Jamaica: Two Suspects Killed in St Andrew Gas Station Robbery — Two of the three men believed to have carried out Wednesday’s violent robbery and shooting at a gas station on Deanery Road in St Andrew were shot and killed during a police operation in the St Catherine North Division early Thursday morning.
According to sources, the confrontation occurred at 31 St. John’s Road in Spanish Town, where officers reportedly intercepted the suspects. One firearm was recovered during the operation.
Police are now searching for the third suspect, who managed to escape.
The three men had been captured on CCTV during the brazen attack at the gas station on Wednesday. Investigators had earlier released images from the surveillance footage and urged the suspects to surrender to the Hunts Bay Police.
The 38-second video, which circulated widely online, shows the suspects arriving at the gas station in a silver Toyota station wagon. The vehicle’s licence plate appears to end with the letters “LX.”
The footage shows a female pump attendant collecting what appeared to be cash from an occupant seated in the rear of the vehicle before opening the fuel tank to begin refuelling.
As she turned to enter the fuel amount into the pump, two men exited the rear of the vehicle while another stepped out from the front passenger seat. The trio then attacked the attendant, appearing to wrestle cash from her before one of the suspects shoved her and allegedly shot her.
The men fled the scene in the vehicle immediately after the attack.
Police believe the suspects were linked to a series of recent robberies across the Corporate Area.
Investigations remain ongoing as detectives intensify efforts to locate the remaining suspect.
