West Indies Women begin World Cup push with training camp in Wales

Cricket West Indies has sent a 16 member West Indies Women squad to Newport, Wales for a 10 day training camp as preparations ramp up for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
Running from May 14 to 23, the camp is designed to sharpen every part of the team’s game before a key tri-nation T20 series in Ireland against the hosts and Pakistan. The series is expected to give the players valuable match practice in conditions similar to those they will face during the World Cup.
The Maroon Warriors will spend the camp working through technical drills, tactical sessions, match simulations, fitness work, and team-building activities as they continue fine-tuning their squad ahead of the major tournament.
After reaching the semifinals of the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the team heads into this new campaign with growing confidence and added experience. Their build-up has already included white-ball contests against Sri Lanka and Australia earlier this year as management looks to keep the squad battle-ready.
The West Indies Women open the tri-series against Ireland on May 28 before wrapping up against Pakistan on June 3. They will then return to England for the World Cup, where their first match is set for June 13 against New Zealand.
Final squads for both the Ireland series and the World Cup are expected to be announced later.
