Jamaica recorded 22 road deaths from 22 deadly crashes in May, based on the latest monthly figures published by the Island Traffic Authority (ITA).

One death was recorded in Trelawny, St Elizabeth, St Ann, Kingston and St Thomas. St Andrew and Portland ended the month without any reported road fatalities.

The ITA said the May figures represented a 29 per cent reduction in road deaths compared with May 2025, while the number of deadly crashes fell by 27 per cent. Motorcyclists made up 32 per cent of those killed, accounting for seven deaths. Pedestrians represented 27 per cent, or six deaths, and private motor vehicle drivers accounted for 18 per cent, or four deaths. Passengers also represented 18 per cent of all May 2026 road fatalities. The authority also noted that no multiple-vehicle crashes were recorded during the month.
