Police Dog Leads Breakthrough in Murder Case

Police in St. James made a major breakthrough in the May 1, 2026 murder of 38-year-old hotel worker Kadene Beswick in Catherine Hall. 

Police report she was found around 12:30 a.m. with multiple stab wounds. Detectives launched an immediate investigation, interviewing several individuals and using forensic methods. 

A key development came when a trained police dog from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Canine Division helped locate crucial evidence, advancing the case significantly.

1 have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the tragic killing of a woman in

Catherine Hall, St. James, on Friday, May 1, 2026.

The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Kadene Beswick, a hotel worker from Catherine

Hall.

Area 1 Crime Officer, Superintendent Jermaine Anglin, reported that at about 12:30 a.m., police

were summoned to a residence in the area. Upon arrival, Ms. Beswick’s body was discovered lying

on her back with multiple stab wounds.

An investigation was immediately launched, and as it progressed, several individuals were

interviewed and various forensic tools were employed to gather critical evidence. A major turning

point in the case came with the deployment of a trained canine from the Jamaica Constabulary

Force’s Canine Division. The dog assisted investigators in locating key pieces of evidence,

including the weapon believed to have been used in the attack and clothing linked to the suspect.

 

A suspect was subsequently taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged and brought

before the court in due course.

Superintendent Anglin described the incident as a senseless act and emphasized the unwavering

commitment of detectives across Area 1 to pursue justice through all lawful means. He noted that

the successful use of specialized resources highlights the determination of law enforcement to

solve crimes and provide closure to grieving families.

The police continue to express gratitude to members of the public for their ongoing cooperation

and support, which remain vital in the effort to reduce violent crime, and ensure safer communities.
