Richard Creary Sworn In as Mayor of St. Mary Municipal Corporation
Richard Creary, Councillor for the Richmond Division, was elected and sworn in as Mayor of the St. Mary Municipal Corporation during a ceremony held on Thursday, December 10, 2016.
Councillor Jason James of the Gayle Division was selected as Deputy Mayor at the same proceeding.
Delivering his inaugural address, Mayor Creary outlined his early agenda, naming the construction and renovation of the Port Maria market and upgrade works at the St. Mary Infirmary as two of his leading priorities.
Five newly elected Councillors were also administered the oath of affirmation. They are Mitsy Hudson (Hampstead), Krystal Lee (Retreat), Sheldon Kidd (Oracabessa), Germaine Smiley (Port Maria) and Leroy Sewell (Boscobel).
Returning Councillors Lenford Danvers (Castleton), Doreen Hutchinson (Carron Hall), Lincoln Dixon (Islington), Paul Fyffe (Highgate) and former Mayor Levan Freeman (Belfield) re-affirmed their commitment to serve the people of the parish.
