Jacqueline Williams named among West Indian umpires for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup
Jamaican umpire Jacqueline Williams has been selected as one of two West Indian officials on the match-officiating panel for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to get under way at Edgbaston on June 12.
Williams, who is preparing for her fifth appearance at the tournament, will be joined by Trinidad and Tobago’s Candace Labord. For Labord, the assignment marks her debut at a Women’s T20 World Cup.
Williams is among the senior figures in international umpiring and will share a notable milestone with veteran official Kim Cotton, with both set to reach five appearances at the T20 World Cup. Across previous editions, Williams and Cotton have handled 19 matches between them.
The Jamaican official also has a significant place in West Indies cricket history. In 2022, she became the first female umpire from the region to officiate in a men’s T20 International involving two full-member teams.
Williams is part of a 14-umpire list for the 2026 tournament, which includes four officials making their first appearance at the event. The competition will also continue the use of an all-female Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Officials for a third straight edition, backed by four match referees.
Australian umpire Claire Polosak is also on the panel and is set for her sixth T20 World Cup. She has already stood in 22 matches at the tournament, the highest total for any umpire.
