Jamaica book CWI Under-19 final berth against Barbados after Monday defeat

Jamaica will meet Barbados in the final of the Cricket West Indies Regional Under-19 Championship after securing second place in the preliminary standings, even though the island side lost its last round-robin fixture to the Bajans on Monday.

The defeat left Jamaica on 20.2 points, still enough to finish ahead of Trinidad and Tobago and the Leeward Islands, who both closed on 19.2. That margin earned Jamaica a shot at the title against Barbados, the defending champions, who completed the group stage without a loss after Monday’s win.

Batting first, Jamaica were dismissed for 107 in 27.5 overs. Zariel Harding claimed 4 for 24 and Justin Parris took 3 for 17. Giovanni Grey top-scored with 24, while Joel Williams contributed 16; only three Jamaicans reached double figures.

Barbados replied with 110 for 3 in 14.4 overs to win by seven wickets. Jordan Graham led the chase with 29, and Gadson Bowens struck a brisk 21 from eight balls.
