A Jamaican-born man who lives in Florida has been taken into custody after his wife was fatally stabbed at an Airbnb in Asia, Hanover, late Sunday night. The couple was reportedly in Jamaica on vacation with their two-month-old baby when the incident occurred.

Police in St. James are also probing the death of a three-year-old girl who was brought to Cornwall Regional Hospital last night with several injuries. She was declared dead when she arrived at the hospital.

In St. Elizabeth, investigators found the bodies of two men at a business place in the Glencoe Housing Scheme in Santa Cruz on Sunday evening. The dead men have been identified as 65-year-old businessman and licensed firearm holder Melvin Blight and Romel Coleman Johnson, who was described in the report as a suspected robber.

The police force is mourning Constable Shanky Gordon, who was assigned to the St. Catherine North Division. Gordon died early Monday after a motorcycle crash in Yallahs, St. Catherine. His colleagues remembered him as a committed member of the constabulary.

In sport, Jamaican long jumper Carey McLeod has received a two-year ban from athletics after accepting that he committed three whereabouts failures. The Athletics Integrity Unit said the 28-year-old will be barred from competition until May 28, 2028, and that his results from May 2026 will be wiped out.

At midday in currency trading, the US dollar was selling for J$158.17, the British pound sterling for J$202.41 and the Canadian dollar for J$116.74. The forecast for Tuesday morning called for hazy and windy conditions, especially over southern parishes.
