Jamaica has hosted its first Chinese night market, organised under the patronage of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Jamaica. The gathering was billed as a dedicated showcase of Chinese cuisine, drawing a strong turnout of Jamaican patrons alongside vendors offering authentic dishes prepared fresh on site.

Stalls featured an array of traditional fare, including dumplings, noodles, succulent shrimp, crispy spring rolls, and a spicy citron stir-fry. The embassy also arranged sampling stations so visitors could try items before purchasing. Dessert options included sweet bean-paste treats—sticky rice on the outside with mashed red bean inside, sometimes finished with a dusting of sugar.

Those in attendance said the market surpassed expectations. One visitor praised the desserts in particular, noting the combination of sticky rice and red-bean filling and describing the experience as thoroughly enjoyable.

The Chinese ambassador to Jamaica used the occasion to underline the event's cultural significance. Referencing Jamaica's national motto, "Out of Many, One People," he said the local Chinese community has become an important part of the wider Jamaican society and has contributed to national social and economic development. He described Chinese food as a bond of friendship between China and the Jamaican people.

"Jamaican people love Chinese food, and Chinese people also love Jamaican food," he said. "Jerk food is also one of my favourites, and Jamaica has become the land I love. As Chinese ambassador, I will devote myself to the further development of the China–Jamaica strategic partnership."

Organisers framed the night market as more than a dining event—a celebration of friendship, shared culture, and China's culinary heritage presented in Jamaica.
