Jamaica pushes deeper UK trade ties during investment mission
L-R: British High Commissioner to Jamaica, Her Excellency Alicia Herbert; United Kingdom Minister of State for Trade at the Department for Business and Trade, Sir Chris Bryant MP; Jamaica’s State Minister in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Delano Seiveright; and Jamaica’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Alexander Williams, during high-level discussions at the UK Department for Business and Trade in London on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

State Minister in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Delano Seiveright, held high-level talks with United Kingdom Minister of State for Trade at the Department for Business and Trade, Sir Chris Bryant, at the UK Department for Business and Trade in London on Thursday as Jamaica sought to strengthen trade and investment relations with the United Kingdom.

The discussions centred on deepening commercial cooperation between the two countries while positioning Jamaica as a strategic hub for logistics, digital services, manufacturing, nearshore operations and access to regional markets. The talks also explored opportunities to expand private sector partnerships, attract greater investment flows and strengthen engagement between Jamaican and UK-based businesses.

The meeting formed part of Jamaica’s wider trade and investment mission to Ireland and the United Kingdom, coordinated by JAMPRO, the investment and export promotion agency under the ministry. The initiative is aimed at driving investment, expanding business linkages and increasing Jamaica’s global commercial footprint.

Seiveright departed the island last Saturday to lead the week-long mission, which is focused on broadening export opportunities, strengthening business relationships and advancing investment discussions for Jamaica.

The delegation included representatives from Jamaica Special Economic Zone Authority and a cross-section of private sector companies operating in manufacturing, agro-processing, wellness, education services, legal services and digital business.

Participating companies included Wisynco Group Limited, Grace Foods UK, Optimity Group, among others.

The Jamaican team also participated in the Ireland–Latin America & Caribbean Trade Horizons Forum in Dublin and the UK-Caribbean Trade & Investment Forum at Lancaster House, alongside targeted investor meetings, business engagements and networking sessions with senior Irish and British stakeholders.
