Jamaica has registered a second consecutive week of single-digit homicides, with six killings recorded between June 21 and 27, according to the latest crime figures from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

By June 27, murders across the island stood at 265 for the year to date — a 23 per cent decline from the 342 recorded over the same period in 2024.

The JCF reports that shootings, rapes, robberies, break-ins and other major offences have also fallen, helping to push down serious crime overall by roughly 20 per cent.

National gains have not been uniform across parishes. St. James continues to lead the island in homicides, with 35 killings so far this year — a 25 per cent rise compared with the corresponding period last year.

St. Andrew South ranks second with 22 murders, followed by St. Andrew Central on 21, Clarendon with 20, and Kingston Eastern on 19.
