Jamaican (Bam Bam) Earns French Platinum, Adds Three Gold Certifications

Since arriving late last year, Jamaican (Bam Bam) has gained traction in Europe and the United States. The afrobeats, house and EDM production reimagines Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam.

A French platinum certification followed earlier this week, representing 200,000 units from sales and equivalent streams. The track had already earned gold status in Belgium for 20,000 units, Mexico for 70,000 and Portugal for 12,000.

HUGEL and SOLTO produced the recording, which Universal Music/Polydor distributed worldwide. It reached number eight in France, 19 in Germany, number one in Greece, 24 in Italy, five in Luxembourg, nine in the Netherlands and 43 in Portugal. On the UK Singles chart, it peaked at number 88.

Its Billboard placements include number 63 on the Global 200, four on Global Dance Radio and 13 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.

The original Bam Bam dates from 1982. The late Winston Riley produced Sister Nancy’s recording for Techniques Records, and the release rose to number one on Jamaica’s charts.
