Jamaica Women Chase Billie Jean King Cup Promotion In El Salvador

1 min read

Jamaica’s women’s tennis players have opened their Billie Jean King Cup qualifying campaign in El Salvador, where the team is trying to earn promotion to Americas Group Two. The push began on a difficult note, with Jamaica going down 1-0 to Trinidad and Tobago in the first matchup.

The national side is competing in Group B with Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Bermuda and Costa Rica. Ten countries are taking part in the tournament, which is scheduled to finish next Saturday, and the two leading teams will move up automatically to Americas Group Two in 2027.

Jamaica’s four-player roster brings together established talent and younger competitors. LSU’s Kinaa Graham and former national champion Katherine Dibbs lead the group, while junior standouts Savannah Taylor and Xenya Miller Brown add another dimension to the squad.

Although the first result went against them, the Jamaicans remain in contention with several group fixtures still ahead. They will need stronger performances against the remaining opponents to stay in the promotion race.
