Jamarii Links With 450 On 'No Days Off' As Single Charts In 10 Countries

Upcoming dancehall act Jamarii has watched his newest release, No Days Off, pick up steady momentum since it dropped on July 10, and the deejay credits the pairing with established dancehall figure 450 for much of that push.

The record, built by producer Weekday, has found ears well outside Jamaica. It has charted in the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Sierra Leone, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, Benin, Malawi, Botswana and Zambia. That spread has opened Jamarii's catalogue to listeners who had never heard him before, while adding to 450's standing overseas.

For the young artiste, born Jamarley Pusey, sharing a track with one of the genre's most in-demand names left a lasting impression.

“Working with 450 was a rare feeling and experience for me because he's a much bigger artiste than I am, but he had absolutely no ego. Everything was smooth and it was just good vibes and positive energy. From that came the confidence that led to this groundbreaking hit,” he said.

The Grants Pen, Kingston 8 native said the release carries weight beyond a single successful team-up. He sees it as a doorway to a bigger audience and a chance to be counted among dancehall's serious players.

“My hope for this song is to shine a light on my talent by using 450's influence to capture the attention of his fan base and prove that I'm worth listening to. With that exposure, I hope to break into the scene and continue releasing good music,” he said.

Music was not his first creative outlet. Poetry drew him in during his younger years before deejaying took hold, and coming up in Grants Pen, a community that has sent several recognised entertainers into the business, sharpened his intent to make a career of it.
