Jaydon Hibbert to resume triple jump competition at JBL Jump Fest in Slovakia
Jamaican men's triple jump under-20 world record holder Jaydon Hibbert is due to begin his season on Wednesday at the JBL Jump Fest in Slovakia, marking his return to competition after an extended spell away from the sport.
Hibbert, writing on Instagram, reflected on the recovery period following an injury he suffered in 2024. He said, "A lot happened between the last competition and this one. After a year and a half away from the sport, I'm finally stepping back onto the runway again."
The Jamaican reached the Olympic final and placed fourth with a best jump of 17.61 metres. That performance stands as the strongest Olympic result by a Jamaican man in the event.
Hibbert is also one of four Jamaicans whose applications to change allegiance to Turkey were turned down by World Athletics. The Turkish Federation is expected to take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
