JC junior sprint fest prep meet records 8.05 and 8.63 on May 16
Young sprinters posted strong unofficial marks at the Jamaica College junior sprint festival preparation meet on May 16, 2026, as sectional finals set the pace for the wider JC programme despite a registered wind of minus 2.2 metres per second.
Zenoya Malcolm of Wolmer's won one heat in 8.63 seconds, the leading unofficial time in that section. Thomas Amore Thomas of Lady of the Angels was second in 8.87, with Solomon third in 8.92 on the same wind reading.
Section D brought together eight finalists across the lanes. Cassidy Gordon of Praise Tabernacle Christian Academy started in lane one, Catherine Daley of Immaculate Prep in lane two, and Anicia Lawrence of Richmond Park Prep in lane three. Demea Graham of Wolmer's ran from lane four, Mackena Levy of Hillel Academy from lane five, and Desiree James of MAG Prep from lane six. Morgan McBean of Wolmer's Centre for Knowledge occupied lane seven, with Madison Samuels of Immaculate Prep in lane eight.
After a competitive start, James took the section in 8.05 seconds. Samuels followed for Immaculate Prep in 8.61. The heat stayed close through the early stages before James pulled clear at the finish.
The session formed part of the build-up to the JC Junior Sprint Fest, with the minus 2.2 metres per second wind figure applied to the times reported from the track.
