JCF backs Andrew Hudson's drag racing campaign at Vernam Field

The Jamaica Constabulary Force used the Valvoline Drag Rivals Tune event at Vernam Field Aerodrome to push a road safety message, backing Detective Sergeant Andrew Hudson and his 2001 Honda Integra as part of its presence at the motorsport meet.

The event drew hundreds of cars, drivers and tuners to the aerodrome, where Hudson's Integra was presented with JCF branding. The vehicle was described as among the quickest in the Caribbean and the fastest in its class.

Hudson said it was a major moment to have the organisation supporting him publicly. He said representing the JCF in that space had long been his ambition, and that he was pleased Commissioner of Police Dr. Blake accepted the idea.

The detective sergeant said he has been racing for 21 years and that the Integra is his fourth race car. He described it as reliable, consistent and his favourite vehicle so far. For the event, he said, the car was wrapped in JCF logos and had received some adjustments as he aimed for a personal best.

Dr. Blake said the force chose the event because it allowed police to take the road safety message directly into a community that already embraces motorsport. He said racing belongs at places such as Vernam Field, not on public roads.

The JCF's message on the car was, "Race on the track, and not on the road." Dr. Blake said people can enjoy fast cars and motorcycles while still behaving responsibly when using public streets.

He also linked the appearance to the JCF's internal theme of "one force for good", saying the doctrine reflects an organisation working with one mission and one purpose rather than as separate units or individual personalities.
