1 min readClarendon

The Jamaica Constabulary Force is in mourning after one of its officers died in a collision on the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon on Thursday morning.

The fallen member has been named as Constable Shavaine Davy, who served with the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch in the Corporate Area.

Investigators have not yet released details about what led to the crash.

In a tribute issued Thursday, the JCF described Davy as a committed and disciplined officer whose career was defined by bravery and steadfast service.

"His dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving and protecting the people of Jamaica will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working alongside him," the force said.

Senior officials also extended condolences to Davy's family, friends, and fellow officers.

"The force mourns the loss of a valued member whose service reflected courage and devotion to duty. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones, fellow officers, and all those affected by this tragic loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find strength and comfort in the cherished memories of his life and service," the JCF added.

Word of the constable's death has hit hard across the force, especially among PSTEB colleagues who worked with him in traffic enforcement and public safety duties.

Police say inquiries into the fatal collision remain underway.
