Black River man credits Ghana, JDF and Bermuda troops after storm roof repairs
A Black River homeowner whose property was battered in a recent storm has publicly thanked overseas and local military personnel for helping put a roof back over his head.
Paul Souveran said high winds and rain tore into the dwelling badly enough that he spent weeks sleeping in a motor vehicle while repairs lagged. He and his brother sheltered on the veranda as the weather closed in, feeling the full force of the elements against their backs, he recalled.
Souveran named the Ghanaian Armed Forces, the Jamaica Defence Force and the Royal Bermuda Regiment as the units that stepped in with practical support to restore the covering. The intervention, he said, came as a relief the household had not anticipated.
Members of the family in Jamaica and abroad are thankful for the assistance, Souveran added, describing the response as deeply appreciated after a punishing night of wind and rain.
