The Jamaica Defence Force says firefighters have put out a blaze that started Friday night in the barracks section of Up Park Camp.
The JDF said the fire began about 7:41 pm. Its own fire unit joined crews from Rollington Town, Half Way Tree, York Park, Trench Town and Spanish Town fire stations in a coordinated response to bring the situation under control, according to a release from the army.
The cause had not yet been established, the JDF said. A formal probe is expected to start after the relevant authorities confirm that the damaged area is safe to enter.
The JDF also expressed thanks to the fire crews for their quick response and said more information will be shared when it becomes available.
